Ways of Knowing
The Lady of Shalott from Tennyson's poem was forbidden to look at the outside world because of a curse. She wove a (metaphorical) web, as seen on the painting. Are the ways of knowing perhaps in a way the threads we use to weave our web to represent reality?

The tools we use to gather, create, represent and pass on knowledge. We make sense of the world through eight ways of knowing: language, reason, sense perception, memory, faith, intuition, imagination and emotion. When you scroll down the pages of each way of knowing (see drop-down menu at the top), you will find articles, clips, PowerPoints and links to TED talks for each way of knowing. Remember, however, that it is best to discuss how the ways of knowing interact, rather than looking at them in isolation. Likewise, it is wise to see how ways of knowing contribute to the creation of knowledge in areas of knowledge. The knowledge frameworks place the ways of knowing under the section of 'methodology'. Indeed, the ways of knowing are tools we use to gather knowledge. The methods you use may shape the conclusions you reach in your search for knowledge. The methods you use are also dependent on the area of knowledge within which you are gathering, creating and representing knowledge. You could consider the roles ways of knowing play in the creation of knowledge, how they interact, and how each WOK has its strengths and weaknesses. It is also interesting to explore how, let's say, the language of Maths is different from the language of The Arts. Indeed, the ways of knowing will be employed differently within different areas of knowledge.
